Construction Buyer

Our client, a well-established design & build, fit-out, and refurbishment contractor with a turnover of £25M, is seeking a Buyer to join their team based near Halifax. Operating across a wide range of commercial projects valued between £100k and £9M, they have built a reputation for delivering high-quality work across the full construction lifecycle.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Buyer to work on a wide scope of procurement, from groundworks to final finishes, within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Please note this is an Office-based role.

Buyer - Benefits

• Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (DOE, open to discussion)

Buyer - Role Overview

• Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and plant hire from groundworks through to final finishes
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and payment terms
• Forecast material needs in collaboration with site and project managers
• Monitor deliveries, stock levels, and supplier performance
• Maintain procurement documentation and accurate records
• Ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing aligned with project requirements
• Work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure smooth site support

Buyer - Requirements

• Proven experience in a buying or procurement role (construction sector preferred)
• Knowledge of plant hire and construction materials procurement
• Excellent negotiation, organisational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple procurement tasks under pressure
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience using SAGE and Collabor8 Online is advantageous (training can be provided)
• High attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
