We’re working with an established construction contractor who are looking to add a Construction Materials Buyer to their team due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects.

The business delivers a varied range of construction projects across sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, residential and refurbishment, so this is a great opportunity to join a busy contractor with a diverse workload.

The Role

Sourcing and purchasing construction materials across multiple projects.

*

Obtaining and comparing supplier quotations to secure competitive prices.

*

Negotiating costs, delivery dates and payment terms with suppliers.

*

Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.

*

Working closely with site teams, quantity surveyors and project managers to understand material requirements.

*

Ensuring materials are ordered and delivered in line with project programmes.

*

Monitoring lead times, availability and potential supply issues.

*

Raising purchase orders and keeping purchasing records up to date.

*

Resolving any issues relating to deliveries, quality or supplier performance.

About You

*

Previous experience in a construction buying or materials purchasing role.

*

Good knowledge of construction materials, products and suppliers.

*

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

*

Commercially aware, with a focus on securing value for money.

*

Organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

*

Confident building relationships with both suppliers and internal teams.
