Overview / Responsibilities





 

Construction Manager - Onshore, Wakefield Based 

Wood have a requirement to recruit a multidiscipline Construction Manager within the Process & Energy business for a duration of 18 months to provide discipline expertise to the business and our client, you will establish and maintain effective working relationships while communicating across the business interfaces.

 

The opportunity requires experience in EPCm, Brownfield Projects, Onshore, CDM, Temporary Works, Multidiscipline including Civil across the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Executing assigned scopes of work in a timely manner and within Key Performance Indicator (KPI) schedules.
  • Delivering and actively promoting the Wood core values, policies and procedures.
  • Driving safety leadership and ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with peer groups, management, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Delivering Construction activities in line with Construction Excellence.
  • Reviewing planned activities for constructability, providing accurate feedback.
  • Executing assigned scopes of work as a role model for reports.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on all construction related activities.
  • Managing and leading all construction reports to ensure delivery against milestones and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
  • Set and apply strategic and tactical direction with regard to policy / procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting.
  • Mentoring, supervising and supporting development for reports, ensure learning opportunities are captured and realised.
  • Provide input to the performance management of direct reports through supervision.
  • Ensure management of third party suppliers in the execution of operational delivery.
  • Effective delegation to ensure the continuity of work scope execution.
  • Ensure competence of direct reports and review in accordance with competency assessment programme.
  • Set expectations and manage performance of direct reports.
  • In conjunction with the line, manage succession planning for direct reports.
  • Management of Field Construction works including Direct Hire Scopes.





Qualifications





 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Time served relevant discipline in NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND.
  • Extensive years relevant Construction experience.
  • Experience of people management in Construction with sufficient experience within a Lead role.
  • Oil & Gas, Petrochemical experience. 
  • Exposure to working within a Technical environment.

 

Role-Specific Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills.
  • Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover.
  • Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge.
  • Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required, monitor work progress and report against the plan.
  • Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), HAZCON and Constructability.
  • Actively promote wood Health and Safety Executive (HSE) policy procedures and initiatives in line with core values.
  • Ensure good communication at all times with contract and project teams.
  • Engage with and promote the construction community including: networking/knowledge sharing.
  • Manage interfaces across functional and business boundaries.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external customers and third party vendors.
