This opportunity would particularly suit candidates interested in shaping the future of the team with a focus on public and private sector work. Ideally you will have experience of working in one of the team’s sectors. The role offers opportunities for a fair diet of construction, energy, procurement, state aid and projects work.

You’ll need:

Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in construction law, with a focus on non-contentious matters.
Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, including standard forms (e.g., JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and bespoke agreements.
Strong understanding of construction law, procurement methods, and risk management strategies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially sound advice.
Proven track record of managing complex construction projects and delivering successful outcomes for clients.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with experience supervising junior team members.
Proactive and self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous professional development.

You will be able to:

Provide comprehensive legal advice on non-contentious construction matters, including drafting, negotiating, and reviewing construction contracts and related documents.
Advise clients on procurement strategies, contract administration, and risk management.
Assist clients with project financing, joint ventures, and development agreements.
Support clients through the lifecycle of construction projects, from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Work closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives, delivering tailored legal solutions that add value to their projects.
Mentor and supervise junior associates and paralegals, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Stay up to date with developments in construction law and industry practices, ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of services provided.
Participate in business development activities, including networking events, client presentations, and marketing initiatives to grow the firm’s construction practice.
Maintain and build strong client relationships through excellent communication and service delivery.

In return, we offer:

Flexible working : you will have the ability to work between home and the office as required.
Health and wellbeing : subsidised in-person and virtual yoga, wellbeing events and our ‘Time to Move’ scheme, offering colleagues time to simply get away from their desks.
