Cambridge / Oxford / London (Hybrid) ?? £31,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience) About the Company This is an opportunity to join a well-established and growing ecological consultancy with multiple offices across the UK. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality ecological services across a diverse range of projects and maintains a stable, expanding client base. Recently, the company became part of a wider group of ecological consultancies , providing additional backing for growth while maintaining its independence, team culture, and values. The focus is on delivering high-quality ecological outcomes for clients , while also creating a supportive, sustainable working environment for employees. The Role They’re looking for a Consultant Ecologist (or more senior) to join the team. This role offers the chance to: Lead and contribute to a variety of ecological projects Support and mentor more junior team members Build and maintain strong client relationships Play a key role in delivering high-quality consultancy work A bat licence would be highly beneficial for this position. What They’re Looking For Essential: Degree in Ecology or a related field ~3+ years’ experience in ecological consultancy Experience with project delivery and some level of team or line management Strong understanding of environmental legislation and policy Good report writing skills and experience reviewing technical reports Experience with Ecological Impact Assessments GIS and database management experience Ability to build and manage client relationships Full, clean driving licence Membership with CIEEM (or working towards appropriate level) Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject Protected species licences (e.g. bats, GCN) Specialism in areas such as ornithology or bats Experience as an EPS licence holder Interest or experience in habitat creation and biodiversity enhancement What’s on Offer Competitive salary (£31,000–£45,000 depending on experience) Company pension (including salary sacrifice options) Flexible working hours + TOIL Hybrid working model Up to 27 days annual leave + bank holidays Strong focus on training and professional development Professional membership fees covered Home office setup support Sabbatical scheme Company sick pay Cycle to work scheme Employee referral bonus Regular social events Mileage paid at competitive rates Why Consider It Established consultancy with a strong pipeline of work Backed by a wider group, but still independent in how it operates Genuine focus on career development and progression Supportive, collaborative team environment If you’re looking for a role where you can develop your expertise, take on more responsibility, and work on meaningful ecological projects , this is worth a conversation.
