Job Description - Content Designer

This role will initially be a 23-month fixed-term contract and based in our Manchester office where we offer a hybrid-approach to working. What you’ll do as a Content Designer Plan, research and develop high quality accessible content to meet the needs of citizens Collaborate with user researchers and other UCD professionals to build a deep understanding of the need for content you develop Work closely with policy and technical teams to ensure their content ambitions and priority messages are shaped by user need and practical insight into what works for those users Develop and test content iteratively, creating prototypes, testing key elements and learning from users throughout the journey Ensure accessibility of content in line with Government standards Be a vocal advocate for the role of content design in the department, working to ensure better understanding of the profession and enhance the appreciation of its value work as part of an agile, multidisciplinary team to design and deliver public services for users Be part of a growing community of content designers in DLUHC, supporting the profession and sharing ideas and expertise alongside more practical What we’re looking for experience of developing and publishing user-centred content for digital audiences the ability to design content to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand experience of effectively applying content standards and style guidelines to your work ability to redevelop existing content and rapidly get buy in for your approach the ability to create and test content prototypes using a variety of methods an understanding of the importance of inclusive, accessible content the ability to clearly make the case for content design and wider UCD principles with senior stakeholders
