POSITION DESCRIPTION – CONTINGENCY COOK

LOCATION
RAF Lakenheath / RAF Mildenhall – Suffolk, United Kingdom

POSITION SUMMARY
Provide surge and contingency culinary support across military Dining Facility operations
during mobilization, emergency requirements, staffing shortages, and special mission
activities.

REPORTS TO
Site Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Meal Production
• Prepare meals using Air Force recipe systems
• Execute progressive cooking techniques
• Maintain quality and presentation standards

Kitchen Operations
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment
• Support inventory and production planning
• Prepare flight and ground meals

Food Safety
• Maintain HACCP compliance
• Support sanitation standards

SHIFT SCHEDULES
Morning Shift: 0500–1400 | Day Shift: 1030–1930
365-day operation including weekends and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Minimum 3 years traceable cooking experience
• English communication skills
• Right to work in UK
• RAF installation eligibility

Preferred
• High-volume kitchen experience
• NVQ / City & Guilds
• Military food service experience
• HACCP knowledge

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 25kg, rotating shifts and holiday
support.
