We're supporting a leading UK defence manufacturer as they continue to invest in Operational Excellence and are looking for an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer to help drive business-wide transformation.
Working across manufacturing and support functions, you'll identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, cost and delivery performance while embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organisation. This is a highly visible role where you'll influence stakeholders at every level and lead projects that directly support business growth.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Team Leader, you'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Business Support teams to identify improvement opportunities, facilitate Lean initiatives and ensure improvements are successfully implemented and sustained.
You'll combine data analysis with practical problem solving, using Lean Six Sigma tools to eliminate waste, optimise processes and improve operational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and supporting continuous improvement projects across manufacturing and business functions. Driving Operational Excellence initiatives including Lean deployment, QRQC, Kaizen events and customer improvement programmes. Facilitating workshops and training to develop Lean capability across the organisation. Analysing operational data to identify trends, root causes and opportunities for improvement using Excel and business intelligence tools. Mapping current and future state processes using Value Stream Mapping, SIPOC and other Lean methodologies. Supporting project selection, prioritisation and business case development. Managing improvement projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring benefits are measured, embedded and sustained. Working with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, reduce waste and enhance business performance. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement across the business.
We're looking for someone with:
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or equivalent recognised qualification). A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations or a related discipline. At least five years' experience delivering continuous improvement within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Demonstrable success delivering measurable business improvements, including cost reduction, cycle time improvement, productivity gains or operational efficiencies. Strong experience applying Lean, DMAIC and operational excellence methodologies. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and turn insights into practical improvements. The confidence to influence stakeholders, challenge existing ways of working and drive organisational change. Experience within aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer, Operational Excellence Engineer, Lean Engineer, Manufacturing Excellence Engineer or Business Improvement Engineer looking to join an organisation that is making significant investment in its manufacturing capability and operational performance.
