Contract Lead Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres & Mission Critical

Multiple Locations | Contract | Up to £65 per hour  

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Engineer on a contract basis to support a growing portfolio of data centre and mission-critical projects.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established engineering team working on complex, technically demanding developments across the UK, with projects ranging from early-stage feasibility and site appraisal through to detailed design, construction, commissioning and live operational upgrades.

The Role

The successful engineer will take responsibility for the technical delivery of electrical design work across a range of major data centre and mission-critical projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

Delivering electrical engineering design services across data centre and mission-critical projects.
Developing initial electrical concepts in response to project briefs, technical requirements and applicable regulations.
Working directly with clients and other project stakeholders.
Coordinating electrical design with mechanical, structural, architectural and other multidisciplinary teams.
Preparing and reviewing drawings, specifications, calculations, reports and other technical documentation.
Providing technical input into feasibility studies, site assessments, masterplanning and test-fit exercises.
Supporting projects through detailed design, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.
Assisting with project resource planning, fee management and delivery programmes.
Working collaboratively with clients, contractors, suppliers and wider design teams to resolve technical issues and deliver practical solutions.About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in data centres, mission-critical environments or other technically complex infrastructure.

You should have:

Proven experience delivering electrical engineering design within a consultancy environment.
Strong experience working on data centre and/or mission-critical projects.
Experience with Revit, BIM and electrical design software.
Previous client-facing experience.
Strong technical design and problem-solving ability.
Good understanding of critical electrical infrastructure and resilient power systems.
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary design team.Project Experience
