Our client, a leading engineering consultancy supporting Network Rail infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) to join a key depot enhancement and rail infrastructure programme in the North West. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an established CRE who is looking to broaden their engineering management responsibilities and develop towards a Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM) position. You will work closely with project engineering teams and other stakeholders, gaining exposure to engineering assurance, design integration and project delivery processes across a live rail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the nominated Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) within your discipline Ensure engineering and construction activities are delivered safely and in accordance with Network Rail standards, governance and project requirements Provide engineering oversight throughout construction and implementation phases Review and manage technical documentation, work packages, engineering deliverables and assurance records Support engineering planning, risk management and change control processes Coordinate with designers, project managers, construction teams and Network Rail stakeholders Assist with engineering acceptance and assurance activities Monitor compliance with relevant standards, specifications and safety requirements Participate in site inspections, progress meetings and technical reviews Support the development of engineering management processes and contribute towards wider project engineering leadership activities
About You:
Current or previous experience operating as a CRE on Network Rail projects Strong understanding of Network Rail engineering assurance and project delivery processes Experience working within multidisciplinary rail infrastructure environments Familiar with railway standards, construction methodologies and engineering governance requirements Comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders across consultancy, contractor and client teams Excellent communication and technical reporting skills Proactive approach to problem solving and engineering risk management
Desirable Experience:
Aspirations to progress into a Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM) role Previous exposure to engineering management, engineering assurance or discipline leadership responsibilities Experience within depot, signalling, track, civils, M&E or multidisciplinary rail projects Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration Prior experience working directly with Network Rail and Tier 1 contractors If you are an experienced Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE) looking for a new opportunity to develop your career within the rail industry, we would love to hear from you.
