A specialist engineering manufacturer of bespoke/special purpose machinery is looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Control Panel Wiring Technician to join their workshop build team.
Key responsibilities:
Assemble and build electrical control panels, drilling and fitting components to technical drawings. Wire control panels in line with supplied wiring schematics and build documentation. Bench test completed control panels, recording results and identifying any faults for rectification. Wire skid-mounted equipment, including valves, pumps, heaters and instrumentation (1ph/3ph). Install and fit skid-mounted pneumatic equipment to specification and build standards. Terminate electrical cabling and pneumatic lines neatly and correctly within control panels. Carry out in-house PAT testing in accordance with workplace procedures and safety requirements. Manage electrical stock control, completing stock takes and reporting low stock for replenishment. Support electrical re-assembly of systems on customer sites, ensuring safe, compliant installation.
Key skills & experience:
Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 236, NVQ Level 3 with AM2) plus 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Hands-on experience in controls work and basic electrical wiring. Able to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Basic control panel wiring knowledge and good attention to detail. Competent with workshop tools and practices (power/hand tools and good engineering housekeeping). Comfortable with the physical aspects of working on skid-mounted, steel-framed equipment. Strong timekeeping and good organisation skills. Full UK driving licence.
Desired skills & experience:
Confident reading piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and general arrangement (GA) drawings. Solid understanding of basic electrical circuits. Fault-finding capability from basic diagnostics through to more advanced troubleshooting. Previous site experience, including re-assembly and reconnection of skid wiring. Exposure to, or hands-on experience with, PLCs and HMIs.
