COMMUNICATIONS CENTRE OPERATOR - CASUAL WORKER

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire (LS10), United Kingdom

Salary: £12.21 per hour (with realistic earnings of circa £28K+ with overtime)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic and expanding Operations Support Team as a Communications Centre Operator on a casual basis at the world's largest security company.

Based in our busy National Communications Centre in Leeds, you will play a vital role in our security operations. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the welfare of our frontline staff.

  • Providing support to frontline staff and field-based managers across all aspects of security operations.

This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You will be part of a forward-thinking team committed to excellence.

Shift Pattern:

The National Communications Centre operates 24/7, 365 days a year (including Bank Holidays), with 12-hour shifts. The core department structure is a 4-on/4-off shift pattern (days and nights), which offers an excellent work/life balance.

This specific casual position can potentially offer even greater flexibility to suit individual needs.

The department consists of four teams, each led by a Team Leader and comprising three further operators.

Role Responsibility:

  • Monitoring the health, safety and welfare of field based personnel (typically security guards)  through completion of welfare calls and effective escalation where needed

  • Producing timely and accurate incident reports for circulation and escalation to operational management

  • Out of hours support to our field based Operational Management teams across the country

  • Acting as a central point of contact for all G4S staff

  • Providing support to the Operations Teams in using our processes and systems to their full capability

  • Out of hours scheduling and deploying security personnel across the country in line with client contractual requirements.

  • Ad hoc tasks supporting the collation and organisation of data supporting our frontline operations

  • First point of contact for enquiries from the general public

  • First point of contact for enquiries out of hours from our client base

About you

  • Previous experience in the security industry preferred but not essential

  • Previous experience of working in a contact/communications centre is also desirable but not essential as full training will be given

  • You will be a team player - sometimes taking responsibilities for actions and supporting the other members of the team

  • Knowledge of the creation of spreadsheets and manipulation of data in them would be a distinct advantage but not essential

  • You will be able to prioritise your workload whilst under pressure

  • You will have good communication skills at all management and employee levels

  • You will have attention to detail, with excellent written communication skills

  • You will be proactive in your approach to work and know what exceptional customer service looks like

You will just need to complete the following application form and one of our Recruiters will be in touch to discuss the next steps. Our recruitment and selection process will include an interview and screening to BS7858 standards.

Given the nature of the industry, we do need to ask some questions for security and compliance purposes, but don’t worry - you will only need to complete them once.
