Exciting Opportunity for a Controls Systems Engineer
We're looking for an experienced Controls Systems Engineer to join a high-performing Performance & Control team based in Peterlee.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, where you'll be responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing control systems, ensuring production equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.
You'll have the opportunity to work on complex machinery, solve challenging technical problems and play a key role in improving equipment performance.
The Role
As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Providing controls and software support across manufacturing operations. Diagnosing and resolving control system issues to minimise downtime. Supporting the commissioning, testing and tuning of production machinery. Carrying out software updates, fault finding and system optimisation. Supporting validation and performance verification activities. Analysing production processes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Working closely with manufacturing and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues. Maintaining accurate documentation of software changes, testing and issue resolution.
About You
We're looking for someone with a strong technical background and a hands-on approach to engineering.
You'll ideally have:
A degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline. Experience working with industrial control systems and automation. Knowledge of embedded control systems. Proven experience in fault diagnosis and root cause analysis. Strong technical problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. A practical, hands-on approach to working within a manufacturing environment and proving ground. A focus on quality, reliability and continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be highly advantageous:
Off-Highway Trucks (OHT) or heavy machinery. OEM engineering environments. J1939 CAN/Ethernet communications. Sensors, actuators and real-time control systems.
