Overview of Role

Location: West Bromwich

As a key member of the Regional Management team you will safely lead and motivate the engineering team. You will be responsible for health safety and environment standards, quality,  customer service, cost and people performance targets by leading, directing, motivating and coaching the engineering team to meet all customer needs and compliance within Allied Bakeries standards. To drive and implement continuous improvement and sponsor change.

Key Accountabilities

• Enagages in a Safety-First culture by improving and maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring all team members are aware and complying with Health and Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental  standards, legal and company requirements.


• Leading, developing and motivating the Engineering team to achieve Engineering Excellence culture, deliver all their KPI’s; creating a high performance culture which encourages innovation, continuous improvement and maximum productivity.


• Leading the development and utilisation of site maintenance systems, effective preventative maintenance and condition monitoring techniques to achieve a maximum level of asset availability to meet business needs and develop the 7-year site engineering plan/obsolescence maps to highlight major maintenance interventions and capital/revenue requirements


• Leading major engineering projects and initiatives to ensure their successful implementation, including investment into equipment, processes and systems as and when required.


• Manage site energy improvement plan.


• To effectively manage the engineering budget, constantly reviewing costs and identifying opportunities for savings; including identifying and delivering PDP’s.


• Partnering the manufacturing and technical managers in delivering a food safe, reliable and effective manufacturing process. 


• To be an active member of the site/regional management team, fully participating in activities as required.


• Build and develop effective relationships with the site management team to ensure cross functional working and with the wider AB Central Engineering team to ensure best practice is shared and the optimal performance of the function. 


• Develop continuous improvement  culture and execute action plans (e.g. PDP initiatives, productivity improvements,employee feedback survey etc) to ensure that CI targets are achieved.


• Ensure that any service issues arising are addressed promptly and where appropriate, escalated.

The Right Person

Essential 

• Leads by example with the ‘Safety First’ message and is able to demonstrate a strong standard of Health and Food Safety record with a knowlegdge of environmental standards.


• Proven senior engineering management experience in FMCG/food manufacturing in a commercially challenging, results driven fast paced environment.


• Proven capital project management experience, including change management.


• Proven experience with managing budgets. 


• Experience in food equipment and systems maintenance and continuous improvement, automation processes, factory design and layout, planned/preventative maintenance and buildings and service maintenance


• Strong leadership skills with a natural ability to build relationships, building a strong network and the credibility to lead and influence at all levels of the business.


• Strong analytical skills capable of problem solving, identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering pragmatic solutions with high commercial acumen.


• Highly driven with the enthusiasm and resilience to drive performance and change


• Numerate with the ability to analyse and communicate clear, concise information.

Advantageous

• Engineering degree/Chartered Engineer preferable or equivalent experience.
