Conveyancing Legal Secretary

  • Annual Salary: £29,000
  • Location: East London
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Immediate Start

Join a dynamic commercial conveyancing team as a Conveyancing Legal Secretary. This role is essential in supporting fee earners to provide top-tier legal services to our clients, helping to maximise their time on fee-earning tasks through effective management and execution of day-to-day responsibilities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Open new files and complete Anti-Money Laundering checks and ID checks via Thirdfort.
  • Prepare and draft various legal documents including company board minutes, written resolutions, mortgage deeds, contracts, and more.
  • Handle photocopying, printing, scanning, and organising couriers.
  • Manage the closing of files.
  • Take internal and external telephone queries, responding appropriately and ensuring messages are passed on in a timely manner.
  • Monitor post and/or emails and deal with them as appropriate.
  • Address basic queries and perform general administrative duties.
  • Assist in the billing process by preparing bills and liaising with the fee earner and accounts department.
  • Prepare completion statements and handle financial transactions such as requesting cheques and bank transfers.
  • Draft SDLT forms and register charges at Companies House via web-filing.
  • Prepare AP1 applications for submission to the Land Registry online portal.
  • Use conveyancing panel portals such as LMS and Lender Exchange.
  • Ensure timely submission of applications and responses to requisitions.
  • Provide reception cover occasionally as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably in conveyancing.
  • Strong ability to communicate confidently with clients and staff, handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in managing a wide range of administrative and legal tasks.
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation and the conveyancing process.
  • Competence in using legal software and handling audio dictations.
