Job Description - Conveyancing Paralegal Leading Exeter Firm One of the South Wests Top Property Teams
Conveyancing Paralegal | Leading Exeter Firm | One of the South West’s Top Property Teams
A respected Legal 500-ranked firm in Exeter has an opportunity for a Conveyancing Paralegal to join, as part of their Newbuild Homes team. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a clear route into residential property law, particularly for those with an interest in the newbuild market. The position is office-based and provides hands-on exposure to a wide range of conveyancing processes from day one.
This is a key role within one of the largest and most established residential property teams in the South West. The wider Property team at the firm comprises over 30 legal professionals across three offices, including experienced partners, senior associates, and a structured support team of paralegals and legal assistants. Within that, the Newbuild Homes team acts on behalf of both regional and national developers, handling a consistent high volume of transactions. They are on the panel of recommended solicitors for several large-scale housebuilders and are frequently instructed on multi-unit developments throughout the region.
The team is known for its client-focused approach, making it particularly strong when supporting buyers who are often navigating the purchase of their first home. You’ll work under the supervision of experienced lawyers and be actively involved in client communication, file management, preparation of contract packs, ID verification, progress reporting to developers, and assisting with exchanges and completions. You’ll also help with post-completion work, including SDLT returns and title registrations.
This is an ideal opportunity for a law graduate with strong administrative skills and a genuine interest in residential property and development work. Previous conveyancing experience would be a bonus but isn’t essential, as full training will be provided. You’ll need to be highly organised, confident when dealing with clients, and comfortable working at pace as part of a supportive and close-knit team.
The firm as a whole has over 200 staff and is one of the region’s most long-established practices, with offices across Devon. Their turnover is now approaching £15 million, with residential property remaining a consistently strong contributor to the firm’s continued growth. There’s a strong culture of internal development, with paralegals often progressing into more senior roles or qualifying via solicitor apprenticeships or CILEx pathways.
The firm has made a clear commitment to colleague wellbeing and work-life balance. You can expect a supportive, structured environment, opportunities for long-term development, and the chance to play a key part in one of the South West’s leading property teams.
