Cook

We are seeking a dedicated School Cook to join our team in September 2024. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking fresh, high-quality meals and be an enthusiastic team player. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in an educational environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.

• Prepare and cook breakfast and break, assist Head Chef with lunch preparation.
• Observe school security, health, and safety arrangements.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties and cover the Head Chef role during short-term absences.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and food health and safety.
• Ensure compliance with current recognised catering standards and food safety legislation.
• Check deliveries and ensure all raw and cooked food is stored correctly.
• Ensure all Catering Assistants carry out meal preparation and cooking to recipe specifications and nutritional guidelines.
• Adhere to portion standard yields as required by the school.
• Contribute to menu changes and help implement local promotions/theme days.
• Assist with stock control and rotation.
• Maintain regular contact with the Head Chef.
• Assist with the induction of new catering staff.
• Report all accidents and unfit foods.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
• Adhere to and carry out cleaning as per the schedule.
• Assist with Food Hygiene Management system, including daily monitoring records.
• Ensure maximum security of kitchen supplies and equipment.
• Carry out any other duties as directed by the Head Chef or School Business Manager.

• Proven catering experience.
• School experience is desirable.
• Must hold or be willing to undertake Food Safety Training Certificate.
