Salary: £26,806 - 27.032
Hours: 36 per week

Undertake, normally under the general direction of a higher graded operative in a kitchen, the preparation, simple cooking and the serving of food. 

Duties will include basic preparation of food and beverages (for example: preparation of  vegetables and snacks); simple cooking (for example: reconstitution of prepared food);       transporting and serving of meals; general kitchen and dining room duties (for example:        washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables); and cleaning of kitchen,     its surrounds and equipment. 

Application of outline: 

All outlines are to be applied in accordance with the general conditions, a copy of which is attached. 

These duties may be carried out in any local authority establishment. "Simple cooking" includes the heating and/or reconstitution of convenience foods and vegetables, and assisting a higher grade operative where clear instructions are available. 

"Transporting of meals" is the physical movement of prepared food from the kitchen to the appropriate serving point, and may include the packing and loading of food containers and their unpacking and unloading. 

The duties of this job may include cash handling.

The duties of this job vary according to seasonal demand.

The duties of this job do not include any supervisory responsibility. 

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
