Job Description - Corporate Equality Officer

Direct Medics is a leading healthcare recruitment specialist recruiting for Allied Health Professional, Technical and Corporate roles of all bands and specialties for long and short-term locum roles throughout Northern Ireland.

 

Job Description:

 

Direct Medics are currently recruiting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service for a Band 6 HR Equality Officer to manage and monitor the implementation of the Trust’s Equality Scheme and Disability Action Plan.  This is a full time role for 3 months initially, Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm based from Knockbracken.

 

The post holder will support the Assistant Director in the development and implementation of a programme of work designed to implement statutory duties relating to Section 75 of the NI Act, the Human Rights Act 1998, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA 1995) (as amended by Article 5 of the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006). 

1.

A university degree or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years experience in leading work streams which demonstrate specialist knowledge in the application of equality legislation or leadingstakeholder involvement and consultation processes in respect of organisational policy. 

OR

A diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years experience in leading work streams which demonstrate specialist knowledge in the application of equality legislation or leadingstakeholder involvement and formal consultation processes in respect of organisational policy.

OR

A minimum of 5 years experience in a Health and Social Care field with a minimum of 3 years experience in leading work streams which demonstrate specialist knowledge in the application of equality legislation or leadingstakeholder involvement and formal consultation processes in respect of organisational policy.

A sound working knowledge of Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 including requirements for public sector organisations and related processes.

3.

Hold a current full driving licence and access to a car as this role may require travel throughout NI
