GENERAL DESCRIPTION

GIS Support principally to support EPCI Corporate Area in the development of all pipeline offshore wind farm projects worldwide. Responsible for spatial data management, map production and the provision of GIS support services for both onshore and offshore environments.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manage the timely and accurate delivery of onshore and offshore GIS support services to the project’s various work packages, whilst balancing workload with other GIS Project team members to ensure consistent high-quality output.
Project spatial data management within a spatial database including the validation of incoming geophysical / geotechnical survey data and CAD engineering drawings; maintaining spatial data quality standards and metadata; producing technical documentation; building automated spatial data workflows for loading and processing; and providing spatial data deliverables according to required standards.
Professional quality map and chart production to meet the needs of the different project departments, ensuring timely delivery in accordance with project cartographic standards and compatibility with the Document Management System and any specific compliance requirements.
Key GIS interface with contractors and stakeholders on the project: EIA, land management, offshore survey, geological, etc.
Promote good practice in respect to quality, health, safety and environment, including ensuring all project procedures and policies are implemented.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

A degree in GIS, Geography or other relevant engineering or geographical sciences discipline. A Master’s degree in GIS, preferably.

LANGUAGES

The project has an international team of employees, and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Other languages are highly valued.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

3+ years experience providing professional GIS services.
2+ years experience in offshore wind industry or similar.
Experience in a multi-disciplinary project environment.

KNOWLEDGE

Desktop GIS software, principally QGIS but also ESRI GIS software ArcMap / ArcGIS Pro and associated common extensions.
Spatial databases and SQL, principally PostGIS but also ESRI ArcSDE / Enterprise Geodatabases.
Building spatial data workflows with tools such as QGIS Graphical Modeller, PyQGIS, ArcGIS ModelBuilder, ArcPy and/or FME.
Map series production with QGIS Atlas and/or ArcGIS Data Driven Pages.
Competency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
Experience with other relevant systems and software will be considered a plus.
Renewable energy and environmental assessment regulatory frameworks and the planning and consenting processes associated with onshore and offshore assets.
The CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations, including a demonstrable understanding of health, safety and environmental best practices.

A logical, process-oriented mindset with strong technical and analytical abilities.
Ability to communicate spatial concepts clearly to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between team members, contractors and other stakeholders.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The role will be based in Edinburgh but will be working closely with the Madrid office, therefore travelling to Madrid, plus supplier's facilities and offices, local construction ports and constructions sites may be required.
