Job Description - Cost Analyst

Role Title: Cost Analyst
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Middlesborough (Some Travel to Teeside area and Inverness)
Rate: 190p/d via Umbrella

The Cost Controller will support Project/Package Management with the management and control of contract costs, ensuring contracts stay within budget and meet quality standards by estimating costs to completion, supporting contract/commercial management, and overseeing financial reporting, for various professional services and/or supply contracts.

Key Responsibilities include:

Cost Estimation and Control/Management

Estimating quantities and costs of materials, labor, and time.
Developing cost plans and budgets.
Monitoring costs and identifying potential cost overruns, including the tracking of variations/changes to the contract that may affect costs.
Advising on cost-cutting measures and value engineering.
Analyzing repair/maintenance or re-work costs.
Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.Contract Management/Commercial support

Overseeing and valuing subcontractors' work for payments and support on payment/invoice management.
Support on managing risk and ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards.
Assessing the quality of work and identifying potential issues.
Support on ensuring the subcontractors/suppliers have the necessary skills and experience for their works.
Support on change management, contractual notices, claims and document control.Reporting and Analysis:

Preparing cost and progress reports.
Analyzing project outcomes and providing budget/progress reports.
Identifying and reporting variations and changes to the contract in a timely manner.Skills and Qualifications

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Meticulous/Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy within reporting
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
Understanding of construction contracts and legal matters.
Capacity to prioritise work and interface with relevant stakeholders for the collection of information.
Influencing skills, intercultural skills, capable of working in a team or individually.
A relevant degree or qualification in cost control or a related field.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Essential Experience of the Cost Controller:

Demonstratable infrastructure, engineering and / or construction experience.
Good understanding of day-to-day commercial administration in the Engineering and Construction industries.
Experience in supporting large-scale projects and change initiatives using appropriate methodologies.
