Cost Controller

Adele Carr Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a passionate and forward thinking business to recruit a Cost Controller for their Knowsley-based finance team.

This is a newly created role, offering the right individual the opportunity to shape, develop, and grow the position into something more over time.

It is ideal for a finance professional who thrives on responsibility, process improvement, and commercial analysis.

The Role:

Working closely with both Finance and Operations, the Cost Controller will be responsible for implementing and maintaining direct cost control processes across a variety of projects in sectors such as civil engineering, light industrial, mechanical & electrical, and more.

These projects involve labour supply as well as associated costs like accommodation, travel, PPE, training, and logistics.

This is a fully office based role in the first instance there may be movement for hybrid but this would be after a 6 month probationary period.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and monitor direct costs across multiple temporary projects
• Authorise costs in line with commercial agreements and budgets
• Highlight inefficiencies and areas for cost reduction (e.g. under-occupancy, delayed rebilling)
• Collaborate with internal teams to design robust cost tracking and reporting processes
• Develop margin analysis by client, division, and project to drive commercial insights
• Provide accurate and timely reporting to support senior decision-making

What we are looking for?

• Experience in a finance or accounting role with some exposure to cost control
• Strong analytical and commercial thinking
• Confident communicator able to liaise across departments and seniority levels
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Self-starter who can take ownership of their work and improve existing processes
• Charismatic individual who is confident and wont shy away from conversations with staff of all levels
• This business buys into people as personality is not something you teach it is something you have they want somebody who is going to fit the business first and foremost.
• A previous cost controller role or something similar would be hugely advantageous
