Court of Protection Paralegal

I’m recruiting for a fantastic opportunity with one of the UK’s oldest and most respected law firms – a Top 200 firm that has been providing expert legal and wealth management services across Lincolnshire and the Midlands since 1856.

The Opportunity

The team is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join their well-established Court of Protection department. This is a fee-earning role, ideal for someone confident and proactive who can manage their workload with empathy,
structure, and professionalism. You’ll be working closely with vulnerable clients, their families, care providers, and attorneys/deputies – so compassion and accuracy are absolutely key.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:

• Preparing and submitting Deputyship applications
• Handling routine Court of Protection correspondence
• Managing client financial affairs and liaising with care homes and families
• Visiting clients when required – you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car (business insurance required)
• Maintaining accurate financial records and completing data entry (e.g., bank statements, payment records, care fees)
• Supporting annual reporting and day-to-day administration for Deputy/Attorney files
• Collaborating with the firm’s marketing team to represent the department externally

Key Skills & Qualities We're Looking:

• Prior experience in a legal setting
• Strong IT literacy and word processing skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Highly organised, efficient and comfortable working under pressure
• Naturally empathetic, tactful and supportive
• Confident working independently with vulnerable individuals

Desirable:

• Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
• Experience specifically within Court of Protection or Private Client matters
• Previous use of SOS Connect or similar CMS
• Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and client care best practice
