Court of Protection ParalegalLocation: Newcastle upon Tyne (Hybrid working available) Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Salary: Competitive + Bonus Scheme Experience Level: Paralegal (experience in Court of Protection, Serious Injury, or Private Client preferred)
About the Role We’re seeking a Court of Protection Paralegal to support a expanding team and help continue providing outstanding service to clients who have suffered life-changing injuries.
You’ll work closely with the Professional Deputies, Neurotrauma and Personal Injury teams, as well as families, therapists, and other professionals. You’ll play a vital role in improving the lives of vulnerable individuals by providing clear, compassionate, and practical legal support.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting clients with legal and administrative matters, including financial planning and lifestyle support
Attending clients in hospitals, care homes, or at home
Drafting court applications, letters, and documents in plain English
Preparing annual reports for the Office of the Public Guardian
Making regular payments and maintaining accurate financial records and forecasts
Assisting with legal advice under supervision
Instructing professionals to conduct assessments of capacity, care needs, or therapies
Reviewing financial documentation relating to client investments
About You This role is ideal for someone who is:
Empathetic and professional, with experience supporting people in sensitive or distressing circumstances
Highly organised, accurate, and able to manage a busy workload with confidence and care
A team player who communicates clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues
Self-motivated with strong judgement and an understanding of when to seek support
Experience requirements:
Previous experience as a paralegal in any legal discipline is desirable
Experience in Court of Protection, Serious Injury, Neurotrauma, or Private Client work is an advantage but not essential—full training will be provided
