Cover & Examinations Officer

Long Term Futures are working with a well-respected and high-performing secondary academy in Hackney to appoint a dedicated Cover & Examinations Officer ahead of the new academic year.

The school is part of a multi-academy trust and serves a diverse, ambitious and supportive student community. With a strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development, the leadership team values efficient systems, clear communication and a culture of high standards.

This is a key administrative and operational role within the school, overseeing all aspects of short-term staff cover and the full examinations cycle. You'll be the main point of contact for internal and external examinations, working closely with senior leaders, curriculum heads, external invigilators, and awarding bodies.

Key Responsibilities:
Cover Coordination:
* Organise daily cover for teaching staff using SIMS (from 7:15am start)
* Maintain absence records and liaise with agencies for supply provision
* Record and respond to sickness and planned absence, including emergency cover
* Provide induction for supply staff and ensure safeguarding checks are complete
* Track and report on internal cover loads and manage room changes

Examinations Management:
* Lead the planning and delivery of all internal and external exams (GCSE, A-Level, BTEC)
* Manage exam entries, access arrangements, timetables and invigilator recruitment
* Ensure exam security and JCQ compliance at all stages of the exam cycle
* Oversee results days and coordinate post-results services with awarding bodies
* Act as a liaison between SLT, SENCo, teaching staff and parents on all exam matters

Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Strong experience in examinations administration (ideally in a secondary school)
* Excellent organisation and time management skills under pressure
* Confidence using SIMS, Microsoft Office and online exam platforms
* A clear understanding of JCQ and awarding body regulations
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all school levels
* Experience managing supply cover and knowledge of safeguarding procedures
