We are recruiting for our client who are a B2B fintech lender looking for a Credit Underwriter to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for evaluating new business loan applications, assessing risk, and supporting informed lending decisions.
You will analyse financial information, liaise with internal risk teams where necessary, and contribute to delivering a high-quality underwriting process while maintaining excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities

Evaluate the creditworthiness and risk of business loan applications by analysing financial information, including income, business bank statements, HMRC overviews, and contractual agreements.
*
Use financial, credit, market, and industry data to assess lending risk and make informed recommendations.
*
Speak with applicants by telephone to discuss findings, clarify information, and build a clear understanding of their business and funding requirements.
*
Ensure compliance with all relevant lending regulations, internal policies, and underwriting procedures.
*
Prepare and present lending recommendations, outlining applicants' financial strengths, weaknesses, and other relevant factors.
*
Work closely with Business Development, Broker Management, and other internal teams to obtain information and resolve application queries.
*
Deliver excellent customer service by responding promptly to applicant enquiries and communicating decisions clearly and professionally.
*
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company's lending products and underwriting standards.
*
Ensure all work is completed with appropriate due diligence, and flag any Anti-Money Laundering (AML) concerns in line with company procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
*
Excellent telephone manner and communication skills, with confidence speaking to customers from a wide range of backgrounds.
*
Experience using CRM systems and data analysis tools.
*
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
*
Fluent English, both written and spoken.
*
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented office environment.
