Job Description - Credit Control

  • Location: North Somerset
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm)
  • Department: Credit Management

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Management Clerk to join our Credit Management Department. This role is crucial in assisting with the processing of credit notes, investigating customer queries, and ensuring efficient management of customer accounts. The ideal candidate will support the department in maintaining excellent customer relations and upholding the company's credit risk criteria.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Communicate with customers via telephone and email, providing high-quality customer service and responding to enquiries.
  • Process new accounts and manage the opening cycle.
  • Investigate customer queries and log complaints.
  • Raise and distribute credit notes, invoices, and statements.
  • Handle card payments and manage incoming calls related to payments.
  • Perform reconciliation of ledger accounts with customers and third-party systems, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Post and allocate payments received with precision on the in-house system.
  • Manage and maintain the generic credit admin email box and ensure all departmental communications are completed within set timeframes.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all company policies, including health and safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in an accounts department is preferred but not essential.
  • Confidence in customer communication and service.
  • Familiarity with credit control processes is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other in-house systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Good numeracy and communication skills, both written and verbal.
