Credit Control

Elevation Accountancy and Finance are pleased to be working in partnership with a leading business based in Sutton-in-Ashfield as they look to recruit a Credit Controller to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, fast-paced finance team where you’ll play a key role in managing the sales ledger and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding debt, while maintaining strong internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the debtor ledger, ensuring prompt payment from customers in line with agreed terms
• Proactively chase overdue debt using appropriate methods such as credit stop notices, formal letters, and legal escalation where necessary
• Resolve internal and external queries to enable timely invoice payment
• Create and maintain accurate customer records
• Seek credit insurance limits for international customers when applicable
• Process customer card payments and support colleagues with training as required
• Assist with daily banking tasks, including matching remittances, reconciling cash postings, and banking customer cheques
• Support the maintenance and reconciliation of customer accounts and bank statements
• Maintain a well-organised credit control filing system and support the shared inbox by responding to internal and external queries
• Attend departmental meetings to enhance business knowledge and contribute to team goals

Person Specification:

• Previous experience in a credit control or sales ledger role is essential
• Strong communication skills with a professional and courteous telephone manner
• Comfortable working independently and managing workload to meet deadlines
• A flexible team player with a willingness to adapt and learn
• Confident using Microsoft Excel
• Experience working within an established finance function
• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance teams
