Description

The duties include:

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of credit controllers and accounts payable colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
• Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance management to ensure team success.
• Provide regular reports on credit control and accounts payable performance, including debtor days, aged debt, and supplier payment metrics.

Credit Control

• Allocation of receipts to individual accounts
• Focus on minimising aged debt while maintaining strong customer relationships, contacting clients to remind them of outstanding debts via phone or email.
• Maintaining credit hold accounts, obtaining payment & releasing orders as necessary.
• Full communication with external sales executives, generating any necessary credit reviews, making your own recommendations.
• Oversee the management of customer ledgers, including reduction of outstanding debt.
• Monitor payment patterns, assess credit risks, and implement proactive measures to prevent indebtedness without impacting sales growth.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording, reporting, ledger balances, and account reconciliations.
• Collaborate with sales teams to align credit policies with business objectives and customer needs.
• Continuously review and enhance credit control systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and standards.

Accounts Payable

• Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of supplier invoices in line with agreed terms.
• Manage supplier relationships, resolving queries efficiently and maintaining trust with key vendors.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor cash flow implications of accounts payable and work closely with the finance team to optimise payment schedules.
• Continuously review accounts payable systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Profile

A successful Credit Control and Accounts Payable Team Leader should have:

• A solid understanding of credit control and ideally accounts payable processes.
• Experience managing or leading a team within an accounting and finance department.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex queries.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis.
• An eye for detail and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
• Good communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
