Job Description - Credit Control Specialist

Full-time Fixed Term Contract, Ends 30th June 2025
Milton Keynes - Hybrid
Salary from £26,447 dependant on experience.

The Fleet Corporate Credit Control team are dedicated and responsible to provide support, guidance and effective management of the Corporate Collections Strategy for Fleet, Public Sector, Rent a Car (RaC) customer portfolios, VWFS Retailers and Ensurance repairers.
The purpose of this role is to provide process and technical expertise for all corporate credit control processes, customer account management and reconciliations. Provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring funds due to VWFS are recovered on time, accurately allocated and in compliance with all procedures and controls.
What you will be doing:
Responsible for the effective management of credit control processes and proactive use of the Corporate Collection Strategies for Fleet & RaC ensuring they are carried out with integrity whilst ensuring customers are paying to agreed payment terms. This can be achieved through monitoring customer accounts, diarising and completing daily planned chaser calls and the issuing of default letters to customers, in line with the Collection Strategy in order to minimise VWFS aged debt exposure and customer arrears.
Ensure the allocation of customer payments within SAP FI are completed accurately and in accordance to the customer's remittance advice within agreed SLA's.
Review general ledgers to ensure any missed allocated payments are identified and moved to customer accounts to enable clearance prior to month end.
Responsible for the daily monitoring of Salesforce cases ensuring new cases are assigned to the designated Credit Controller and/or assigned to the relevant query queue for Fleet teams to action, within agreed SLA's.
Responsible for customer account management and reconciliations, proactively liaising with customers and cross functionally to manage and carry out in-depth investigations to resolve account and invoicing queries, in order to prevent payment delays and maximise customer satisfaction.
Monitor customer failed Direct Debit payments, taking preventative action to collect payment by BACS and reinstatement of Direct Debit Mandates.
Monitor customers with aged debt, review Companies House to investigate if customers have entered into Administration, where required liaise with Fleet teams to commence recovery of vehicles and termination of contracts, through to calculation of debts owed.
Liaise with Fleet Corporate Credit Control Manager when the Collection Strategies have been exhausted and there is a requirement to refer customer accounts to Legal to pursue debt recovery and engage with either Fleet teams or 3rd Parties to instruct prompt vehicle recovery.
Strive to keep aged debt levels to a minimum in order to contribute to the overall performance and success of the team's monthly KPI measures.
Thorough understanding of individual customer specific MLA (Master Lease Agreement) requirements, to ensure that invoicing is consistent with customer expectations.
You will have:
Previous experience in credit control and SAP FI knowledge are both desirable for this role.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications, especially Excel, including pivot tables, look ups and other formulas to ensure accuracy of complex reconciliations is essential
Ability to demonstrate sound Credit Control accounting knowledge
Ability to complete reconciliations and carry out in-depth investigations to validate and clear outstanding balances
Have the ability to understand system interface design, debit and credit transactions are correct to ensure the financial integrity is maintained
Effective time management for critical and adhoc processes
Competent in working with structured processes
Numerate with a logical approach to problem solving
Excellent relationship building skills - both within the business and externally
Ability to assess, analyse and diagnose problems, propose solutions, select the most appropriate through discussion with other business areas, identify actions and support required to implement
