Job Description - Credit Controller

Axon Moore is excited to be partnering on an upcoming Credit Control opportunity with a well-established and supportive finance team. You’ll be joining a structured and collaborative business with strong systems in place and a Senior Credit Manager who’s known for mentoring and supporting their team’s development.

Location: Central Manchester
Salary: Up to £35,000
Main duties:

Assess and process new customer credit applications, ensuring credit limits are appropriate and aligned with company policy
Monitor and maintain customer accounts, including the review of overdue balances and managing order holds/releases
Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices via phone and email to ensure timely payment and minimise aged debt
Accurately apply customer payments and investigate any mismatches or unallocated amounts
Collaborate closely with internal departments to quickly resolve billing issues or disputes that may delay payment
Contribute to weekly discussions around cash flow by providing insights and expected incoming payments
Provide support during audits and assist with the preparation of various financial reports on an ad hoc basis

Person specifications:

Previous strong credit control experience
Strong communication skills – confident chasing payments professionally by phone and email
Comfortable managing and prioritising a ledger with high volume and multiple accounts
Good attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
Confident using finance/accounting systems (e.g. Sage, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
Able to work independently and as part of a wider finance team
Comfortable liaising with internal stakeholders (Sales, Customer Service, etc.)
