Job Description - Crime Solicitor

A well-regarded criminal defence firm based in London is looking to recruit a Crime Solicitor with 0-3 years' PQE to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior Crime Solicitor to gain experience across a broad range of criminal matters, from police station work to advocacy in Magistrates' and Crown Courts.

The successful Crime Solicitor will be part of a busy and supportive practice that handles everything from general criminal defence to more serious offences. The firm is known for delivering high-quality representation and achieving strong outcomes for clients. As a Crime Solicitor in this team, you will work closely with experienced practitioners and be given every opportunity to develop your skills, particularly in advocacy.

The Crime Solicitor's role

The Crime Solicitor will manage their own caseload while supporting senior colleagues on more complex matters. You will regularly attend police stations, represent clients at court hearings, and handle files from initial interview through to trial. The work includes offences ranging from theft and public order to serious assaults and drug-related cases.

Advocacy is encouraged, and junior lawyers are given opportunities to develop courtroom experience early on. The firm places strong emphasis on teamwork and support, making it an ideal environment for a newly qualified or junior Crime Solicitor to build a long-term career in criminal law.

The Crime Solicitor

  • 0-3 years' PQE with a valid practising certificate in England and Wales

  • Police Station Accreditation is essential

  • Duty Solicitor status is desirable

  • Experience in criminal defence work, including case preparation and court representation

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • A genuine interest in criminal law and client care

In Return?

  • £38,000 to £48,000

  • Hands-on training and supervision from senior lawyers

  • Opportunities to develop advocacy skills early in your career

  • Involvement in a wide variety of general criminal defence matters

  • Supportive team culture within a respected firm
