An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading freight forwarder, currently seeking an experienced Customs Broker to join their growing team in Slough. This role is focused on managing end-to-end customs clearance processes, specifically for air and sea freight imports from China. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HMRC compliance, and experience with industry systems including Destin8, ANS, and CDS.

This is a fast-paced environment handling an average of three containers daily, offering great exposure and the chance to work with a high-performing team.

The Candidate:
• Proven experience in customs declarations and import clearances
• Solid understanding of air and sea freight operations
• Familiarity with systems such as Destin8, ANS, and CDS
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure compliance and accuracy
• Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics
• Strong knowledge of HMRC procedures and customs legislation
• Effective communicator – written and verbal
• Comfortable working directly with clients, customs officials, and freight agents
• Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete and submit customs declarations using systems like Destin8, ANS, and CDS
• Manage clearance processes for both air and sea freight shipments
• Ensure timely and compliant release of goods, particularly imports from China
• Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies when required
• Maintain records and documentation to support audits and compliance checks
• Monitor container arrivals and manage daily throughput efficiently
• Communicate with overseas agents, suppliers, and clients to ensure seamless operations
• Keep updated with customs regulations and industry changes
