We currently have a substantive Inspector vacancy open within Custody, and we would like to offer the opportunity to substantive Inspectors.

This is a key leadership role within Criminal Justice, where a detailed oversight and understanding of performance is vital.There will be a requirement to contribute to continued improvements within an environment where the effective management of risk is an integral part of the role.

You will be instrumental in ensuring that you maintain a safe custody suite for your teams and be driven to support the continued wellbeing of your Custody Sergeants, Detention Officers and Health Care Professionals.

Having the ability to motivate individuals and teams to be their best selves is really important alongside ensuring the continued support, development and progression of your staff.

As a leader you will be expected to role model high standards of professional behaviour and set the bar complying at all times with the Code Of Ethics.

Along with having operational experience at Inspector level, to be successful in this role you will also be able to:

Engage a variety of audiences through a range of media to inform and/or persuade.
Seek out and identify a range of information to identify patterns, trends, and options, to solve multifaceted and complex problems.
Develop and motivate a team.
Create strong engagement of individuals with their personal and team objectives and with Force values, behaviours, and strategic priorities.
Identify situations that require misconduct or attendance intervention / action and to respond appropriately.
Set team and individual performance objectives, monitor performance, assessing progress, identifying emerging risks, issues, and opportunities, and taking corrective steps as required to ensure that the right Results are achieved.

Conditions of Application:
This role is not open to PIP2 officers.
The successful applicant will require vetting to MV level.
It is your responsibility to inform your management team of your application to seek their support and approval.
Any posting decisions will be discussed and approved by the ACC at the Force Resource Board Meeting.
Confirmation of successful posting will be subject to receipt of satisfactory sickness absence checks and security checks which meet the requirements.
