Customs Administrator

Location: Stafford
Contract: 12 months
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full-time, onsite
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm; Friday 8:00am–1:00pm
Rate: £19.50 per hour via FCSA Umbrella (Inside IR35) / £14.25 per hour PAYE

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Customs Administrator to join an established team in Stafford.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in customs, shipping, trade, materials planning or import administration to develop their experience within a highly regulated and continually evolving area of the business.

Since Brexit, customs and international trade have become increasingly regulated, making accuracy and compliance particularly important. In this role, you will play an important part in ensuring imported materials are processed efficiently, accurately and compliantly, allowing the wider business and manufacturing operations to continue without disruption.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day administration of UK imports and customs activities.

Prepare customs clearance instructions for customs brokers.

*

Provide brokers with the necessary information and instructions to ensure shipments are correctly processed and cleared.

*

Review import and customs documentation to ensure information has been entered correctly and accurately.

*

Identify and resolve discrepancies or inaccuracies in import documentation.

*

Support the timely and compliant movement of materials into the business.

*

Work closely with customs brokers, shipping teams and internal stakeholders.

*

Ensure customs and import activities are completed accurately and in accordance with current requirements.

*

Manage workload effectively and prioritise activities according to business requirements.

*

Maintain a high level of attention to detail across all customs and import documentation.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working in an administrative role where accuracy and compliance are essential.

Previous experience within customs would be highly beneficial, although we are also open to candidates with relevant experience in:

Customs and international trade

*

Shipping and logistics

*

Import/export administration

*

Materials planning

*

Supply chain administration

You should be confident managing multiple tasks, prioritising your workload and working effectively as part of a team.

Key Skills & Experience

*

Previous experience in a customs, shipping, trade, logistics or materials planning environment.

*

Strong attention to detail.

*

Good organisational and time-management skills.

*

Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing requirements.

*

Strong communication skills.

*

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

*

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint and Outlook.

*

A willingness to work within a highly regulated and compliance-focused environment.

Trade or customs-related qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.

The Team

You will join a five-person team, working collaboratively to manage the company's day-to-day customs and import activities.

The role will work alongside another team member responsible for similar activities, helping to distribute workload and ensure imports are processed efficiently.

Working Arrangement

This is a fully onsite role based in Stafford.

Working hours:

Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm

Friday: 8:00am–1:00pm
