Customs Operator Dover £33k

Our client is currently seeking a Customs Clerk to oversee and coordinate all customs-related activities at their Dover site. In this pivotal role, you will optimise daily customs clearance procedures, ensure compliance with regulations, and manage customs duties effectively.

Please find all the details below:

Job Title: Customs Operator

Location: Dover, Kent

Salary: £31,500 - £33,000 DOE

Hours: Monday - Friday:

1 week earlies, 7am - 4pm

2 weeks days, 8:30am - 5:30pm

1 week late shift, 12pm - 9pm

and 1 Saturday out of 4, 8am - 4pm

As a Customs Clerk your responsibilities would be:

• Calculating Duty/VAT cost for consignments.
• Processing Import/Export declarations (Home Use/CFSP/NCTS/Permanent Export).
• Dealing with general enquiries from importers/exporters concerning all areas relating to Customs Procedures i.e. Tariff Classifications, Duty Rates, and any other documentation requirements.
• Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws, and Customs procedures.
• Answering HMRC Declaration queries as and when they arise.
• Assisting the Customs Director in ensuring entries are completed correctly.

You'll be the perfect match for this client if you have:

• Customs experience
• Good analytical and excellent organisational skills.
• Willingness to take ownership for resolution of enquiries.
• A team player attitude
• An understanding for the need for confidentiality and discretion.
• Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook)
