Summary



  • This is a 3-month contract position with a local authority, offering a rate of £31.74 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The role involves delivering a professional surveying service focused on damp, mould, condensation, and building pathology across the Council's housing portfolio. The successful candidate will diagnose issues, recommend and manage remedial solutions, and oversee repairs to ensure properties are safe, compliant, and habitable. A customer-centric and empathetic approach is essential when interacting with tenants, alongside ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to all legal, contractual, and safety standards.







Responsibilities




  • Conduct thorough inspections and surveys of properties to identify issues related to damp, mould, and condensation.

  • Utilize specialized surveying techniques and diagnostic tools to determine the underlying causes of these issues.

  • Evaluate the effects of damp and mould on residents and suggest suitable remedial actions.

  • Perform seasonal monitoring and environmental assessments as necessary.

  • Create detailed reports, drawings, floor plans, and specifications for remedial work.









Requirements:







Essential Experience Required




  • Extensive experience in conducting surveys for damp, mould, condensation, and building defects in residential settings.

  • Proven ability to diagnose building pathology and pinpoint the root causes of damp-related problems.

  • Experience in specifying and overseeing remedial work from start to finish.

  • Experience in supervising contractors and evaluating their performance.




Essential Qualifications Required




  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Surveying, Construction, Building Studies, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of building construction and defects.

  • Knowledge of mechanisms behind damp, condensation, and mould growth, along with remedial treatments.

  • Familiarity with housing legislation, building regulations, and health and safety standards.




Additional Information




  • Working hours: 35 hours per week

  • Payments are made on a bi-weekly schedule.
