Job Description - Data Business Analyst

Business Data Analyst (FTC) – Maternity Cover

Location: Remote-first (Quarterly meetups in Huddersfield or Binley)
Contract: Fixed Term Contract – 16 months
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per annum
Start Date: ASAP (urgent hire)

Are you a data-savvy Business Analyst who thrives on turning complexity into clarity?

My client are looking for an experienced Business Data Analyst to cover maternity leave within our Data Engineering team.

This is your chance to step into a critical, senior-facing role where you'll bridge the gap between our engineering and business teams, ensuring the right data solutions are delivered the right way.

What You'll Do

Capture and translate business needs into clear technical requirements.
Own and orchestrate sprint workflows, backlog grooming, and JIRA boards.
Act as the gatekeeper between business requests and engineering priorities—protecting your team from ad hoc chaos.
Challenge poor requirements diplomatically and push back on low-priority tasks.
Work closely with a third-party Informatica service to minimise manual data recovery tasks.

We’re Looking For

Proven experience in a data-focused Business Analyst or Technical Analyst role.
Confident communicator who can navigate both tech and business environments with ease.
Familiarity with Informatica tools and data quality implementation is a bonus.
Someone who can hit the ground running—some tribal knowledge won’t be documented.
