Database Developer / Administrator
  • Location: Remote (ideally a reasonable commute to Essex or Somerset when/if needed)
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: £45K (Must have Right to Work in the UK, cannot provide sponsorship)

We are seeking a Database Developer / Administrator to grow into a Data Architect position and join our clients dynamic Data Analysis team. This role involves developing, populating, and maintaining a Data Warehouse (DWH), enabling the business to maximise the use of data to support operational plans and decision-making in alignment with the business’s vision.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Achieve individual objectives and key performance indicators as set and agreed.
  • Continually expand knowledge of SQL Server and its related tools.
  • Create and modify DWH objects, such as tables and views.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to update the data within the DWH.
  • Perform tuning of the DWH, such as indexing, for both updating and consumption of data.
  • Monitor automated tasks failed on the SQL Server estate, and review or escalate within the team as necessary.
  • Maintain technical competence with in-depth knowledge sufficient to fulfil the role.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated alignment with our values of Fun, Supportive, Professional, Working in Partnership, and Ambitious.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse development and SQL Server, including the T-SQL dialect.
  • Understanding of SSIS development and deployment.
  • Inquisitive nature, prepared to challenge and investigate anomalies in data.
  • Organised, resourceful, and deadline-driven, supportive of the wider team.
  • Highly communicative with a focus on quality and great attention to detail.
  • Flexible, pragmatic, and approachable with a strong focus on project delivery within agreed timescales.
  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the insurance industry is preferred.
