  • Salary: £25-27k depending on experience

My client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Debt Recovery Assistant to join their dynamic team. This role involves building and maintaining effective relationships, managing a diverse workload, and ensuring efficient cash collections. The successful candidate will work closely with Client Service Directors and various teams within the business to achieve optimal results.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Build and maintain sustainable relationships with Client Service Directors and colleagues nationwide to achieve effective and efficient results in cash collections.
  • Investigate and resolve queries, negotiate and agree on payment dates, and handle complex issues by consulting with senior team members.
  • Liaise internally with various teams, from Operations to Legal, to ensure cohesive operations.
  • Recognise early warning signs of distress in individuals or companies that may affect debt payment schedules.
  • Consult with team members at all levels to agree on a consensual approach to reduce exposure and risk to the business.
  • Make decisions regarding inactive customers to ensure recovery of monies owed and mitigate further losses.
  • Escalate accounts for legal recovery, maintain awareness of these accounts throughout the process, and assist in legal proceedings if necessary.
  • Manage and organise workload that falls outside of the chase timetable, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Perform administrative tasks involving a significant amount of digital paperwork and spreadsheets.
  • Address queries promptly and support new team members, providing training on new tasks as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to problem-solve in a dynamic environment.
  • High standards of attention to detail and the ability to process high volumes.
  • Experience working within an office environment and a similar industry is advantageous.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with extensive administrative tasks and comfortable handling both incoming and outgoing calls.
  • A background in credit control is beneficial.
