Debt Recovery Officer

The role involves ensuring company debt risk is kept to a minimum by pro-actively calling customers to negotiate recovery of outstanding payments, liaising with external debt collection agencies and driving overall debt reduction thus limiting financial loss to the business.  

You’ll be:

• Proactively manage and report on portfolio of accounts in arrears to reduce.  


• Liaise with debtors and reach settlement agreements on best possible terms  


• Negotiating agreements/payment plans where appropriate with debtors 


• Build excellent customer and stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.  


• Achieve targets and KPIs.  


• Making outbound and taking inbound calls from customers


• Assisting with debt collection related processes  


• To use own initiative and work within the framework set by the policies and in accordance with agreed collection procedures to ensure the timely collection of outstanding debts  

Experience:

• English & Maths Grade C/5 about above  


• Excellent listening skills and be able to explain things clearly and have an empathetic approach, tailoring each call to the individual customer's needs 


• Excellent communication skills 


• Telephony experience desirable 


• Effective Communication Skills. 


• Efficient Problem-Solving Skills.  


• Proactive, with a focus on customer satisfaction 


• Experience in debt recovery/ credit control is ESSENTIAL (at least 1 year)  


• Hardworking and dedicated attitude


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills  


• Resilient - able to deal with difficult/potentially rude customers 


• Experience working in an office environment and speaking to clients on the phone  


• Able to prioritise workloads and assume responsibility for the completion of own duties in a professional manner and manage own workload
