Durham Professional Services is delighted to be working in partnership with our client, a global institute, to recruit a Senior Project Manager

(12 months FIXED TERM)

for a decommissioning Project on a permanent basis. This role is based in Glasgow with some travel required to office.
Job Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to ensure successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of the decommissioning project for our client. Primarily, it is focused on ensuring that legacy assets on the Oracle Estate and associated datacentre infrastructure are decommissioned in accordance with the agreed process and regulatory requirements.

You will be accountable for determining and implementing the optimal approach for organising and executing the decommissioning process by ensuring that the IT teams and relevant third parties are involved in the planning required for the successful delivery of decommissioning project.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading the decommissioning project from inception to execution. This includes planning, execution and managing the people, resources and scope of the project.
Undertake the planning, budgeting, reporting, and execution, managing dependencies and co-ordinating activities across dependent projects ensuring that the Decommissioning project is delivered on time, within budget and to the required specification.

Ensure robust processes are implemented and adhered to, creating clear objectives, ensuring delivery of project outputs to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan. To be achieved by:

• clear project scope definition, with roles and responsibilities clearly defined
• monitoring the project’s overall progress against schedule and agreed milestones
• analysing and resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate, and
• Managing the project’s budget on behalf of the project sponsor monitoring the expenditures and costs against delivered and
realised benefits as the project progresses.

Managing relationships and personalities ensuring work is planned and communicated to teams ensuring collaboration and relationship management. Prepare and disseminate relevant and timely project communications to be achieved by:
• communicate with project sponsors, functional area managers and/or third parties regarding project’s status, and
• reporting progress of the project at regular intervals to the project
sponsor and governance boards as appropriate.

Key Experience Required

Experience of managing decommissioning projects (Oracle preferable)
• Experience of Data Centre decommissioning
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance matters associated to and required as a result of decommissioning Data Centres
• Multiple previous experience of large / complex projects and programmes
• Experience working within global organisations
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and strong written communication
• Knowledge of Dynamics D365 for F&O projects
• Proven ability to work with a technical team and plan their work clearly and accurately

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a project from start to finish. This candidate will be able to create a plan of action which will consider a fixed timeline and evaluate risks. This individual should also have experience managing people and be an effective communicator.

Responsibilities
Direct and oversee completion of project
Develop plan of action including schedule, resources and work plan
Assess risks and establish contingency plans
Manage work and inputs from variety of stakeholders

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree
5+ years of experience in project management or relevant fields
Demonstrated ability to deliver a completed project
Strong communication skills
Experience working with a team
