Job Description - Degree Apprentice

We're looking for a motivated Degree Apprentice to join the Premier Claims team at our Head Office in Wallasey. This is an exciting opportunity to become a Premier Claims Handler while working towards a  Degree Apprenticeship.



This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a Degree Apprenticeship with LJMU in 2027. You'll spend your first year gaining valuable, hands-on experience within our Premier Claims team while learning the role and building your industry knowledge on an apprentice salary. In 2027, you'll then progress onto the LJMU Degree Apprenticeship, combining your practical experience with a nationally recognised degree qualification.


 


The Auger Academy offers a unique combination of hands-on work experience and academic study towards higher education qualifications. Successful candidates will receive a competitive starting salary while attending university on a day-release basis, with all tuition fees fully funded by the company.

Financials



  • Salary £15,600.00 

  • Annual Bonus – approx. £2000 - £2500

  • 5.5% Pension Contribution


 


Working Hours



  • Full Time – 37.5hrs per week

  • One day per week allocated to study (during term time)

The Role


You'll be part of the Premier Team who looks after Auger's premium clients, delivering an elevated level of customer service and a more tailored claim experience.


 


You'll manage insurance claims for Auger's premium clients from start to finish, delivering a higher level of customer service and a tailored, relationship-led claims experience.



  • Handle drainage & water mains insurance claims for our premium clients

  • Act as a dedicated point of contact, building strong relationships and delivering a tailored premier service throughout the claims journey

  • Assess the liability of claims, and create proposals and quotes for on-site works

  • Ensure claims are handled promptly and smoothly, whilst maintaining an elevated standard of customer care and communication

  • Coordinate with engineers and contractors as needed, keeping premier clients and customers updated and reassured at every stage

  • Anticipate client expectations and go the extra mile to deliver a premium service experience


 


What skills are we looking for?



  • A genuine interest in construction, engineering, or insurance-related careers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, enabling you to convey information clearly and professionally

  • A capable multi-tasker, who can handle inbound phone calls, take notes and complete follow up actions, without compromising on quality

  • A passion for customer care and an empathetic approach

  • Strong teamwork attributes and a desire to help colleagues

  • Ability to adapt your approach to suit different customer circumstances, and think quickly to resolve their problems calmly

  • Good organisational abilities and attention to detail


 


Entry Requirements


 



  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade A–C / 4–9) including Maths and English

  • On track for or achieved at least 112 UCAS points

  • Not including- Civil Engineering & Quantity Surveyor
