Deputy Children's Home Manager | £40,000–£45,000
Our client is opening a brand-new children’s residential service and is looking for an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Deputy Manager to help lead the team from the very start.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping a nurturing, therapeutic environment for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Set in a warm, small-scale home, the service is focused on high-quality care, consistency, and real connection – not numbers or targets.
The ideal candidate will bring senior experience from a children’s residential care setting, be confident in leading a team, and hold a Level 3 Diploma (or above) in Residential Childcare. Most importantly, they’ll be someone who genuinely cares about making a difference in the lives of young people.
As Deputy Children's Home Manager, you’ll support the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home, with a clear focus on quality care and emotional wellbeing. You'll be a role model for the team and an advocate for the children.
What We’re Looking For:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Level 5 is a plus
Previous experience in a senior role within a children’s residential care setting
Strong understanding of emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
Confident working with older children and managing complex needs
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills
A calm, consistent, and caring approach
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the setup and development of a new residential service
Leading, mentoring, and supporting care staff to deliver exceptional outcomes
Ensuring the home meets all safeguarding and regulatory standards (Ofsted)
Building trusted relationships with children, families, and professionals
Taking the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager
Assisting with care planning, risk assessments, rota management, and audits
