Deputy Children's Home Manager | £40,000–£45,000

Our client is opening a brand-new children’s residential service and is looking for an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Deputy Manager to help lead the team from the very start.

This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping a nurturing, therapeutic environment for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Set in a warm, small-scale home, the service is focused on high-quality care, consistency, and real connection – not numbers or targets.

The ideal candidate will bring senior experience from a children’s residential care setting, be confident in leading a team, and hold a Level 3 Diploma (or above) in Residential Childcare. Most importantly, they’ll be someone who genuinely cares about making a difference in the lives of young people.

As Deputy Children's Home Manager, you’ll support the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home, with a clear focus on quality care and emotional wellbeing. You'll be a role model for the team and an advocate for the children.

What We’re Looking For:

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Level 5 is a plus

• Previous experience in a senior role within a children’s residential care setting

• Strong understanding of emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)

• Confident working with older children and managing complex needs

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills

• A calm, consistent, and caring approach

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the setup and development of a new residential service

• Leading, mentoring, and supporting care staff to deliver exceptional outcomes

• Ensuring the home meets all safeguarding and regulatory standards (Ofsted)

• Building trusted relationships with children, families, and professionals

• Taking the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager

• Assisting with care planning, risk assessments, rota management, and audits
