Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

Job Purpose:

To manage and handle Marine and Energy Liability claims within the London Market Claims team. You will be reporting to, and deputising for, the Marine Liability Claims Manager, offering invaluable guidance to a dedicated Claims team. In the day-to-day operation and control of the claims function, you will ensure that the Marine Liability & Special Risk claims are settled on a Timely and Equitable manner, whilst constantly striving to develop and improve service and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Producing feedback to underwriters and management with regards to the structure of their claim issues and related risk information with the goal to improve the overall standard of underwriting in the company.
• Take the lead in handling complex claims under the guidance of the Claims Manager.
• To be a point of escalation in the absence of the Claims Manager.
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of staff.
• Demonstrate that Lloyds minimum standards are being met at all times and be in a position to assist underwriters, senior claims adjusters and claims adjusters to progress.
• Practice Tokio Marine HCC values, ensuring customers are always treated fairly.
• Ensures all claims allocated are controlled within company philosophies and SLA’s
• Providing departmental reports where required.
• To be present at market meetings and conference calls when necessary.
• Ensures all complaint related issues and all such incidents are logged and concluded in accordance with company policy.
• Mentor and train junior team members.
• Assist internal stakeholders, undertaking any other ad hoc activities/project work required.

Skills and Experience Specification:

• Ideally 10 years experience of Marine Liability claims, including US Liability experience in the London Market, or/and freight liability.
• An excellent knowledge of ECF and the Lloyd’s Claims Schemes.
• Good experience of handling Binder and Delegated business would be advantageous.
• Excellent Interpersonal skills are required as the duties of this role involves liaising with outsourcing partners, negotiation and liaising with brokers, loss adjusters and lawyers.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential.
• Excellent organization, numeracy and time management skills.
• IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• ACII qualification or working towards.
