Job Description - Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager

The Role



We are currently looking for an experienced Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager to join our Airworthiness team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Continuing Airworthiness Manager in maintaining the airworthiness of our fleet, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of our operations. The Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing airworthiness policies, overseeing management of maintenance programs, and liaising with contracted maintenance organisations and regulatory authorities. He/She will ensure that all maintenance activities are performed to the highest standards and within the prescribed timelines.




The role


 He/She will support the following:


a)   Establishment and development of Starspeed Limited Continuing Airworthiness management contracts, manuals and policies.


b)   Ensuring that Maintenance Programmes are developed, controlled and approved as required.


c)   Distribute Maintenance Programme.


d)   Analysis of the effectiveness of the Maintenance Programme.


e)   Ensuring that data used for any modification and repairs complies are approved by CAA or approved Design Organisation.


f)     Ensuring the accomplishment of any applicable Airworthiness Directive (AD) or any continuing airworthiness or safety requirement established by the CAA


g)   Assessing non-mandatory modifications, inspections or other types of non-mandatory information and deciding on their application.


h)     Ensuring that aircraft, engines and components are taken to an appropriately approved maintenance organisation.


i)       Ordering maintenance, supervising activities, and coordinating related decisions to ensure that any maintenance is carried out properly and is appropriately released for the determination of aircraft airworthiness.


j)       Establishing and managing written maintenance contracts.


k)     Ensuring that technical records are kept as required.


l)       Reporting any occurrences as required by NAA Regulations and ensuring follow-up action is taken.


m)   Ensuring that the mass and balance statement reflects the status of the aircraft.


n)     Ensuring any aircraft defect that hazards seriously the flight safety is rectified before further flight.


o)     Establishing and managing the qualification, training and competency requirements of personnel involved in continuing airworthiness functions.


p)     Amending the CAME and submitting proposed amendments to the competent authority.


q)     Liaising with the CAA’s.


r)      Ensuring safety responsibilities:


o   championing and promoting safety in the Continuing Airworthiness team.


o   pro-actively identifying hazards in continuing airworthiness activities.


o   managing safety risks associated with continuing airworthiness management activities to as low as reasonably practicable.


o   establishing, monitoring and reviewing continuing airworthiness Safety Performance Indicators




About you



  • Completed formal aeronautical education and have either an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License or a Degree.

  • Minimum 5 years as an Airworthiness Engineer.

  • Expert knowledge of the Part CAMO and Part 145 Regulations, AMM and AMP, OTARS.

  • Effective manager with high levels of technical skill. Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and well organised.
