Job Description - Deputy Manager

Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

?? Woodford, East London

?? Full-time | Permanent

?? Salary: £35,000 per annum

REED Social Care is recruiting a Deputy Manager for a residential children’s home in Woodford, East London. The home supports children and young people aged 11–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and experienced leader to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Lead safeguarding efforts, ensuring the safety and development of all children. Report concerns and represent the service at external meetings.
  • Quality & Compliance: Support adherence to OFSTED regulations and internal policies. Oversee care plans and ensure health and safety standards are upheld.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead shifts, coach staff, and ensure training and development needs are met across the team.
  • Child-Centred Outcomes: Promote educational, social, and personal development opportunities for young people. Maintain strong relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Financial Oversight: Assist in managing the home’s budget and controlling expenditure.
  • Operational Support: Work in line with therapeutic care plans and ensure staff receive regular supervision and support.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in residential childcare, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent); Level 5 in Leadership and Management is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work therapeutically with children and manage complex situations calmly and effectively.
  • IT literate and capable of handling multiple responsibilities.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and maintaining a non-judgemental, adaptable approach.
