About the Service

We are a specialist supported living service providing care and support to young people aged 16 -18 years across 10 self-contained apartments, as well as a dedicated Mother and Baby Unit. Our aim is to help young adults and young parents from traumatic or challenging backgrounds develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Role Overview

As Deputy Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of care and safeguarding across both settings. Working closely with the Responsible Individual, you will support the day-to-day management of the service, provide supervision and guidance to a team of up to 6 Support Workers, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.

This role requires a compassionate, proactive, and resilient individual with experience supporting young people facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Responsible Individual in the operational management of the service.
  • Oversee and lead a team of Support Workers, providing regular supervision, training, and mentoring.
  • Ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures are current, robust, and person-centred.
  • Promote a positive, safe, and nurturing environment where young people and young parents can thrive.
  • Support the development of independence, life skills, and positive parenting practices within the Mother and Baby Unit.
  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, local authority, and internal quality standards.
  • Participate in on-call and rota cover as required.
  • Liaise effectively with social workers, families, external agencies, and professionals to ensure holistic care and support.
  • Monitor and report on the quality of care delivery and outcomes for young people.
  • Contribute to service improvement and development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people, particularly those with emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and Ofsted regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving young people's lives.
  • Experience in a Mother and Baby Unit or similar supported accommodation.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of up to £35,000 per annum
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Supportive and inclusive working environment
  • Opportunities for career progression within a growing organisation
  • Pension scheme and employee well-being support
