Deputy Test, Termination and Load-Out Team Leader

JDR Cable Systems is seeking a Deputy Test, Termination and Load-Out Team Leader to support the Test, Termination & Load-Out Manager in the day-to-day running of the department. Working alongside the Test, Termination & Load-Out Manager, this role will support and lead Test & Termination Technicians and Load-Out Technicians across the relevant disciplines, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will also deputise for the Test, Termination & Load-Out Manager during periods of absence and support the delivery of subsea cable, umbilical and reeler system assembly, testing, termination and load-out activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Test, Termination & Load-Out Manager with the day-to-day management of the department and deputise during their absence


• Lead and support Test & Termination and Load-Out Technicians, ensuring daily activities are planned and completed safely, efficiently and in line with agreed timescales


• Carry out in-process and final testing, termination and inspection of manufactured products in accordance with manufacturing specifications.


• Undertake and oversee the mechanical assembly of termination parts and subsea electrical connectors within the relevant scope of supply


• Support the swaging of hydraulic and pneumatic hoses and their integration with stab plates, winches and QRCs in accordance with manufacturing specifications


• Monitor and manage daily workloads, ensuring operating procedures are followed and appropriate risk assessments and permits are in place


• Work closely with the Plant Manager and relevant departments to identify and resolve issues that may affect the timely completion of projects


• Check and sign dispatch paperwork, job sheets and relevant working documentation in accordance with JDR Quality Standards


• Support employee relations, team performance and the implementation of company initiatives in conjunction with HR and the Plant Manager


• Motivate and lead the team to work efficiently, with Health & Safety and Quality at the forefront of all activities


• Support the management and monitoring of departmental training requirements, ensuring certifications remain current and operating procedures and forms are maintained


• Promote continuous improvement, effective problem solving and a positive team culture across the department

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical and/or hydraulic background, together with proven experience in a Team Leader or management role. You will have a willingness to learn and follow established procedures, with good PC literacy and strong organisational and communication skills.

You will have proven experience in fault finding and problem solving, with knowledge of structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D and S.R.E.D.I.M. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the ability to work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality and other relevant departments.

A formal management qualification would be advantageous, although relevant experience will be considered. Knowledge and experience of subsea cable, umbilical or reeler systems would be an advantage, although not essential.
