We require an ambitious, intellectually rigorous Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to deliver high-quality product design, systems, and engineering instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves facilitating a challenging, industry-linked academic curriculum while leveraging advanced workshop machinery to foster deep technical inquiry, spatial reasoning, and material mastery.
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly structured, evidence-based DT lessons covering material properties, computer-aided design (CAD), and electronic systems.
Workshop Leadership: Coordinate and execute safe, engaging practical manufacturing tasks, ensuring pupils master foundational hand tools, timber/polymer processing, and workshop safety protocols.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Implement rigorous formative and summative assessment routines, utilising pupil tracking data to design sharp, targeted interventions that bridge learning gaps.
Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal GCSE Product Design or technical engineering specifications, maximising progress outcomes for all learners.
Pastoral Care Integration: Undertake full form tutor responsibilities, managing daily registration, monitoring pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal development units.
Standalone Mainstream Framework: Operating within a newly established, independent standalone mainstream secondary school, our institution offers a fresh, innovative approach to local education. Free from centralized trust restrictions, the school provides exceptional operational autonomy, rapid paths to leadership, and custom-tailored professional development pathways.
Behaviour Systems: The campus implements a highly consistent, disruption-free behaviour policy focused on clarity and routine, ensuring classrooms and design laboratories remain calm, predictable, and exceptionally safe environments for complex practical work.
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress outcomes in terminal public examinations and technical awards through explicit, highly engaging instruction.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour and health and safety policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, highly focused, and strictly disciplined workshop culture.
Science City Legacy & Creative Innovation: Based in Nottingham, the school operates within a vibrant, historic East Midlands city celebrated for its pioneering lace-making and industrial roots, now thriving as a designated UK Science City with a massive booming sector in digital technology, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing.
Connectivity: The area offers exceptional regional transit infrastructure, providing seamless commuting via the extensive Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network, major road corridors (A52, A453, and quick access to the M1 motorway), alongside rapid rail operations running smoothly through Nottingham station directly to Birmingham, Sheffield, and London St Pancras.
